Prompt:
As I’m sure you’re aware, violence is present in a variety of domains in society, ranging from personal interactions to broader, large-scale conflicts. In this course we focus on individual-level (interpersonal) interactions, however, so using that as a parameter:
How do you define violence? What are the key characteristics that makes an act violent?
Are there situations where acts typically considered as violence might be viewed differently? If so, provide some specific examples.
How do our definitions of violence affect how we then respond to violence?
Feel free to bring in examples from personal experiences, historical events, or current affairs to illustrate your points. Let’s aim to understand the diverse perspectives and complexities involved in defining violence. For this part there’s no need to incorporate the readings
Part 2: Continuing the Discussion

In your response, consider the differences and/or similarities to your own response and discuss these with the classmate.
ONE OF YOUR RESPONSE POSTS MUST INCORPORATE ONE OF THE READINGS (Jackman, Back, or Hamby)
