What to include in your One-Pager:
The One-pager biography about Lyman Beecher must include:
An image of your person or image related to your historical person [must credit the source]
A brief biography that explains major life events [approximately 150-200 words long]
The figure’s major contribution to United States history. [approximately 200-250 words long]
Find at least two quotes either from or about your assigned person as related to their contribution to society (primary or secondary source)
These quotes must connect to why that mattered to United States
society during the time period they lived and/or the source must be
explained somewhere in the content of the one-pager.
These quotes DO NOT COUNT for your word count and should be separate from the text in the sections (see my example)
DO NOT use AZ Quotes or Brainy Quotes
– these are websites that just have some quotes, don’t attribute where
your person stated it and are not always accurate. Use the “Primary
Sources” tab in the LibGuide to help find quotes and/or use quotes from
the articles from historians.
Lasting Impact – explain what lasting impact your assigned person had United States society [50-100 words]
Works cited/Bibliography page citing the sources you used. This
should be in MLA format. This can be a second page and must be formatted
correctly.
You need AT LEAST three solid sources – any good research project needs to read several sources and then synthesize the information
